Purpose
Canadian tax support in SIRE helps pass the correct tax setup to Sage Intacct when SIRE creates invoices, bills, and adjustments for Canadian companies.
SIRE uses tax setup from Sage Intacct. Tax Solutions, Tax Details, contact tax groups, and tax rates must be maintained in Sage Intacct before related SIRE processes are run.
Before Using Canadian Tax Features
Before processing Canadian transactions in SIRE, confirm the setup in Sage Intacct.
Confirm:
-
The Canadian SIRE company is connected to the correct Sage Intacct company.
-
Tax Solutions are active in Sage Intacct.
-
Tax Details are active and linked to the correct Tax Solution.
-
Tenant/customer tax groups are configured when tenant tax setup is required.
-
Vendor tax groups are configured when vendor tax setup is required.
-
Items and transaction definitions are configured for taxable processing in Sage Intacct.
-
The property is linked to the correct entity and Tax Solution when applicable.
SIRE does not maintain tax rates. Sage Intacct calculates tax using its tax setup.
Property Tax Solution
For Canadian companies, SIRE can show Tax Solution in Property setup when the selected entity has a Tax Solution.
Go to Setup > Properties.
In the General tab, review Tax Solution.
SIRE uses the property Tax Solution when creating supported transactions for that property. If the property does not have a Tax Solution, some processes can use the tenant/customer or vendor tax setup from Sage Intacct.
Tax Details
For Canadian companies, some SIRE processes require Tax Details before creating AP bills or AR adjustments.
Tax Details are selected from Sage Intacct tax details that belong to the related tax setup.
SIRE uses Tax Details to send tax entries to Sage Intacct.
Processes That Require Tax Details
Tax Details are required for Canadian companies in these workflows:
|

Where Tax Details Appear |
Result |
|---|---|---|
|

|

If Tax Details are missing in a Canadian company, SIRE prevents the process from continuing where the field is required.
Accounts Receivable Invoices
SIRE enables tax on generated Order Entry invoice lines.
When a Tax Solution is available, SIRE sends the Tax Solution to Sage Intacct. SIRE uses the property Tax Solution first. If the property Tax Solution is not available, SIRE can use the tenant/customer tax setup from Sage Intacct.
This applies to SIRE processes that create AR invoices, including:
-
Scheduled Charges
-
Late Charges
-
Tenant Chargeback invoices
-
CPI charges
-
Recoveries Reconcile Charges
-
Recoveries Escalation charges
-
Percentage Rent charges
-
Lease activation billing
-
Security deposit invoices
-
Transfer deposit invoices
-
Optional Management Fee AR invoices
Sage Intacct calculates the tax based on the tax setup available on the transaction.
Accounts Payable Bills
For Canadian companies, SIRE-created AP bills can include:
-
Tax Solution
-
Tax Detail
-
Purchasing tax entry
SIRE uses the property Tax Solution when available. If the property Tax Solution is not available, SIRE can use the vendor tax setup from Sage Intacct.
This applies to AP bill workflows such as:
-
Deposit Refund
-
Tenant Chargeback bills
-
Management Fee bills
The Tax Detail must be selected or configured where SIRE requires it.
Accounts Receivable Adjustments
For Canadian companies, SIRE-created AR adjustments can include:
-
Tax Solution
-
Tax Detail
-
Order entry tax entry
This applies to:
-
Apply Deposit
-
Transfer Deposit
SIRE uses the property Tax Solution when available. If the property Tax Solution is not available, SIRE can use the tenant/customer tax setup from Sage Intacct.
Late Charges
Property Charge Controls include Subtotal Subject to Late Charges.
When this setting is enabled, SIRE includes subtotal items from the original invoice in the late charge evaluation. Subtotal items can include taxes, charges, and discounts.
Go to Setup > Properties > Charge Controls.
Enable Subtotal Subject to Late Charges only when subtotal items should be considered subject to late charges.
If this setting is not enabled, SIRE excludes tax subtotal amounts from the invoice amount used for late charge calculation.
Tenant Ledger
For Canadian companies, Tenant Ledger includes invoice tax amounts in ledger totals.
SIRE retrieves tax amounts from Sage Intacct invoice tax data and includes them with the related invoice line when calculating ledger charges and balances.
This helps Tenant Ledger reflect Canadian invoice totals more accurately.
