In Company Configuration, the Straight-Line Rent Posting Journal setting allows you to choose which General Ledger journal is used when SIRE posts Straight-Line Rent (SLR) accounting entries during the GSC process.
This provides greater flexibility by allowing organizations to direct Straight-Line Rent postings to the journal that best fits their accounting practices, rather than always using the General Journal, which was used by default.
Before you begin
Ensure that:

Straight-Line Rent is enabled for a property.

The journal you want to use exists in your General Ledger.

The journal is active in Intacct.
Only active journals can be selected.
How to configure the Straight-Line Rent Posting Journal

Navigate to Company > Configuration.

In the Basic Info section, locate Straight-Line Rent Posting Journal.

Open the dropdown list.

Select the journal you want to use.

Click Save.
Your selection is saved at the company level and will be used for all future Straight-Line Rent postings generated by the Scheduled Charges process.
What journals are available?
The dropdown displays all active journals configured for your company in General Ledger.
Changing the journal
You can update the Straight-Line Rent Posting Journal at any time by returning to Company > Configuration and selecting a different active journal.
Future Straight-Line Rent postings will use the newly selected journal. Existing journal entries are not modified.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this affect other accounting entries?
No. This setting only determines the journal used for Straight-Line Rent postings. Other posting logic and accounting configurations remain unchanged.
Does this change the GL accounts used for Straight-Line Rent?
No. The GL accounts configured for Straight-Line Rent remain the same. Only the destination journal changes.
Is this setting company-wide?
Yes. The Straight-Line Rent Posting Journal is a company-level configuration and applies to all users within the company.
Can I switch back to the General Journal?
Yes. Simply select GJ – General Journal in the configuration and save your changes.
